Solar control systems supplied by Solaris Free Energy Ltd. are designed to be simple to use and easy to understand. In fact, other than occasionally having a look at the display to see how much heat your solar system is delivering, there is no requirement to touch the system at all. Control is completely automatic.

Operation
The microprocessor based controller monitors the temperature of the solar collector relative to the hot water cylinder. If there is a reasonable difference, the pump is switched on. The pump will continue to run until the temperature difference drops to say 2°C and then it will switch off. In essence it’s that simple.

Options
For ultimate control, Solaris recommend a higher spec controller which will vary the pump speed according to the temperature difference, this allows the system to adapt to the prevailing weather conditions and work to optimum efficiency. It is also possible to set the system to indicate the amount of energy (in kWh) which has been delivered.

Auxiliary Heating Control
There will be times when there is insufficient energy available from the sun. A boiler or immersion heater will provide auxiliary heat to ensure you never run out of hot water. A simple timeswitch will prevent the boiler from running during daylight hours
